Does your business need a mobile app: an honest breakdown

Not every business needs an app. When it pays off, and when improving your site is enough — plainly.

«We need an app too» is a common wish, but not always the right call. An app costs more and needs constant updating. So it's worth answering one question honestly first: what problem will an app solve better than a website?

When an app is useful

  • Customers use you often and repeatedly (delivery, taxi, loyalty program)
  • Bringing people back via push notifications matters (promos, order status)
  • You need phone capabilities (camera, QR, geolocation, offline mode)
  • For an internal process — a dedicated app for a courier, warehouse or salesperson

When an app isn't needed

  • Customers use you once or twice a year — they won't install an app
  • The main goal is information and contact — a good website is enough
  • The budget is limited — better to strengthen the site and CRM first

A middle-ground solution

Sometimes, instead of a full app, a modern web app (PWA) or a mini-app inside Telegram is enough — it installs on the phone, builds faster and costs less. That's especially sensible early on.
